Calañas: cultural mixture, encounter of civilizations (4)

Madrid, September 2011

The Foundation Castilla del Oro, would start a new project in Spain, to be specific in Huelva (Andevalo Hill). For this reason we invite you to learn the history, customs and the life style of this place in the old Europe, where the Castilla del Oro Foundation would take up a new challenge; it would develop what its driver, the engineer Richard Fifer-Carles callsa Second Generation Social Responsibility.

ECONOMIC ACTIVITY OF THE AGE

After passing through the hands of several civilizations, the history took Calañas to a feudalism situation and dependency of its lord during the low middle age. During that time, the main economic activity of Calañas was the sheep, goats and swine.

The power of the lords over the people of the area became stronger during the XIV and XV centuries, which increased the contribution exigencies to their people. The increases in taxation by the lords made even more difficult the way people lived which was already hard and excessively narrowed as an economical model which didn’t aspired to much luxuries than the subsistence itself with penuries from agricultures and farmers.

Richard fifer

The modern age set up free Calañas from the privileges of the novelty from the previous age but not from the social differences that lasted and where transferred from one social model to the other as a social evil that refused to disappear.

The modern age is responsible for the construction of most of the monuments that can still be admired in the town, as the beautiful church of Santa Maria de Gracia.

On the other side, the shrine of Nuestra Senora de la Coronada was constructed in the XVI century over the remains of an ancient roman necropolis. During this age it was also constructed the bridge over the Odiel River which is close to the Sotiel Coronada.

They don’t cut the tree or lend the ax, Sugasti

Those trying to reject the mining projects, do so by sustaining alternatives that only exist in their minds and with an unfair and irresponsible attitude, because they condemn the poorest people of Panama to go to bed hungry over a great mineral wealth, stated the President of the Panamanian School of Geologists, Omar Sugasti.

“You ‘don’t cut the tree or lend the ax’”, said Sugasti, who also stated that the adversaries of mining teach the residents of these areas by filling them with fear, or with exaggerations and inaccurate information.

Petaquilla Gold S.A., under the vision of Eng. Richard Fifer Carles, developed the Molejon gold project, where the company’s positive impact is felt not only by the hiring of people and providing them a formal income, but with the social projects they have been developing for the past few years in the areas of road construction, health, education, and nutrition.

“They don’t let them enter the economical development they deserve and do nothing to fulfill their actual needs.  An orchard here or another there will not move them to a different situation from where they already are, a simple subsistence agriculture”, stated Sugasti.

Petaquilla Gold S.A. to extract one million ounces of gold over ten years

For the next ten years, Petaquilla Gold S.A. could be extracting one million ounces of gold, confirmed the Minister of External Relations, Roberto Henriquez, who added, “We are reviewing what the country should receive as the result from these extractions”.

According to Henriquez “what the government wants is to preserve the environment, to benefit the community, and for the State to receive a fair return” stated the official.  The area granted to the mining company reaches 100 hectares.

Petaquilla Gold S.A., under the leadership of Engineer Richard Fifer Carles, has registered since last year an important production of this valuable metal, with exportations that surpass the 100 million dollar mark within the first five months of 2011.

Huelva as possible space laboratory of NASA

Madrid, September 2011

NASA has published many results on the studies they are doing concerning the presence of life and other resources in the earth satellite. In this context, in October of 2009, NASA bombarded the moon surface (more information on NASA’s web page) in what is supposed to be the race to investigate the moon resources that should not be discarded in the medium or long term as a potential source of non-renewable resources that can be imported and rentable to our planet.

The special conditions of Rio Tinto in Huelva have an abnormally reduced pH due to its contact with high metallic concentrated minerals and life forms have developed that have not been explored, like no other place on earth, but they also have evolved in similar ecosystems like the ones in the underground of Mars, that’s why NASA has led some research projects looking for these type of onubenses and endemic organisms.

Huelva, work scope of the Petaquilla Minerals Company, led by Richard Fifer-Carles, in the so called coast of the light, have the advantages to install a space platform for the following reasons:

•           Elevated space available at a reasonable cost.

•           Qualified personnel for the exploitation of mineral and agricultural resources.

•           Good communications International airport of Sevilla (Spain) and Faro (Portugal), Seaport of Huelva, etc.

•           Scientific expertise concerning the unparalleled biodiversity worldwide because of the presence of the Donana Biological Reserve, who polarizes studies of many recognized scientific countries in biodiversity.

For the above reasons, it is considered an opportunity to consider Huelva as a suitable location to establish a investigations and communications space platform in the research of extra planetary resources to make the earth a better place to live.
